About HANA
Humber All Nations Alliance (HANA) is an umbrella organisation formed in 2002 by BME groups in the Humber Sub-region. This loose network of organisations met together to discuss similar issues they were all facing and formed an alliance to work together to overcome these problems together. Since then, HANA was formed as an official Limited Company by Guarantee in 2005 and became a registered charity in 2006.
Today, HANA is a well established sub-regional organisation building on its reputation as a reliable and credible delivery partner to statutory and third sector organisations as well as a voice for the BME community on many decision making boards and steering groups.
HANA’s primary aim is to promote the well being of BME communities in the Humber sub-region, by providing a voice and advocating on their behalf and by representing their interests in a range of influential or decision-making contexts. This role is supported by capacity-building amongst BME groups, signposting, referrals and engagement with partnership bodies.
We aim to be of service to BME communities by facilitating consultation and feedback on issues which affect them and by conducting research into subjects which concern them. Particularly into local service provision to identify obstacles which may make take-up difficult for BME communities and individuals.
We encourage true participation of our members by drawing representatives and to sharing the responsibility of giving voice to BME communities’ needs and concerns. We actively promote community cohesion by encouraging cooperation among our members and stakeholders, sharing information for their benefit and creating opportunities for discussion and debate.
HANA, our members and our partners are constantly setting the agenda for change. We work with partnership organisations to deliver learning and training to our members at a local level. We work with other infrastructure organisations and feed into them to deliver change at a sectoral level.
