Traditional Food Has Been A Success in the Community Cafe
The community cafe at the Enterprise Centre is now in its second week. Community groups members of HANA have seen an increase in the numbers of customers visiting the cafe for lunch, or just to find a moment to take a rest away from the demands of work with a cup of tea or coffee.
The variety of food offered in the cafe is just amazing, and the prices cater for all budgets. Those visiting the cafe have also witnessed the friendly atmosphere and traditional decoration representing the different ethnic communities offering food in the cafe. This development is part of the 'Cooking Pot' project.
The next event of the 'Cooking Pot' project is this Saturday 26 November at the Cafe of the Community Enterprise Centre and there will be cooking demonstrations of Eastern European food. The event is open to the public and is free.
In recent months, HANA has offered free training leading towards the
Food Hygiene Certificate through the DRE project, and more than 250
people from ethnic minority backgrounds achieved this qualification.
In partnership with DOC, the 'Cooking Pot' project is now is now well established and we all are looking forward to the 'Cooking Pot' evenings. HANA members are involved in the project and community associations such as the Jama Ghanaian Group, Women Accede, Hon Lohk Senior Association, Russian Group, Latvian Communities, Mexican Folklore - Association of Latin American Communities and others have expressed interest in organising 'Cooking Pot' events. For further information, and if your group wants to become involved in this project, you can contact HANA or DOC at the Community Enterprise Centre.
