HANA Football: The International League Update

The football league is now in its third week. The league is organised into two divisions: Premiership and Championship, as follows:

Premiership: Team GB, Kurdistan, Lokomotiv (Russian Group), Poland, Congo FC, Dynamo (Russian Group).

Championship: Czech and Slovakian Team, Simba FC (Congolese), GNG Hull (Sikh Temple), Afghan Hull, South Sudan, Afghan Grimsby, Abusua (Ghanaian).

The season will last five weeks and at the end the winners of each division will be awarded a trophy and medals, with medals for the second position and the 'fair play' winner team.

Matches are played every Sunday from 12 noon at Goals Soccer Centre, Clogh Road, and members of the public are invited to attend. The league has attracted much attention and members of all BME communities attend to support their favourite teams. People of all ages come every week to cheer their teams and it is great to see how sport acts as an element of community integration and social cohesion.
