The Arch-Bishop of the Christian Orthodox Church in the UK Visited Hul
The Arch-Bishop of the Christian Orthodox Church (Patriarch of Moscow) in the UK visited Hull to offer a religious service to members of his congregation. The service took place in the Hull Trinity Church on Saturday 21st January 2011 when members of different Eastern European Communities gathered to pay their respect to the visitor and attend the religious service. The Vicar of the Hull Trinity Church and the Bishop of Hull welcomed the visiting Arch-Bishop to the Hull Trinity Church. The service was delivered in both English and Russian languages.
The event was organised by the Hull Branch of the Russian Community and the Orthodox Church Project (Patriarch of Moscow). Both organisations are members of HANA. Father Gennady, who visits Hull on a monthly bases to deliver religious services was delighted with the number of people who attended the service on Saturday. Organiser Dr Valentina Whiting said that this is the second time the Arch-Bishop visits Hull and that the number of members continue growing. Dr Whiting also commented that members of the Latvian, Lithuanian, Ukrainian and Russian communities living in the Humber region have found comfort with the visit of the dignatary of the Orthodox Church faith.
